Gothic Skeleton Rose Kindle Case Insert, Dark Academia Art (2024 Paperwhite/Colorsoft)

A skeleton leans in from the right of the frame, jaw parted in a quiet smile, bony fingers curled gently around the stem of a single blush pink rose. The rose catches a sparkle of light at its edge, petals blooming open in dusty rose and antique pink, while dark green leaves trail down the long stem toward the bottom of the composition. Loose petals drift through the air on fine white ribbon-like swirls, and smaller peony-toned blooms float across the deep black background in soft focus, some faded to mauve and shadowed plum.

The backdrop is a textured black with a subtle halftone dot pattern and pale beams of light falling from the upper left corner, giving this skeleton and roses design a gothic romance atmosphere that feels equal parts tender and macabre. Every rib, vertebra and knuckle is drawn with a hand-inked, botanical-plate quality, the ivory bone warmed to a soft cream against the darkness, which makes this dark academia skeleton art a natural fit for readers who love vampire romance, haunted love stories and moody floral illustration.

A memento mori theme runs quietly through the whole piece: the offering of a flower from something long past living, beauty handed over in the dark. It suits horror romance shelves, spooky season reading and anyone drawn to gothic skull and rose artwork with a soft, romantic edge.

Sized to fit the 2024 (12th generation) Kindle Paperwhite and Colorsoft, which share the same screen size. Each one is made to order, printed on premium cardstock and trimmed by hand, then shipped ready to slip into place for a touch of gothic romance every time you read.
